Hi, I'm Lindsay Smith, UX/UI Designer.
I am an empathetic problem-solver passionate about developing innovative and effective ways to communicate through user-friendly, intuitive, and memorable design.
My journey started in education because of my desire and ability to connect with students and foster growth. During my time as an educator, I developed a strong sense of empathy and understanding of students' academic and emotional needs. I learned that people of all ages learn and process information differently, and as such, it is important to create many paths to knowledge and understanding.
Why transition to UX/UI design? I've always had a passion and an eye for design, hence my graphic and web design history. However, while I am a creative thinker, I also enjoy engaging the analytical side of my brain. UX/UI has opened a new path for me in which I can still help and connect with others while utilizing my strengths of creativity, attention to detail, collaboration, and design based on a deep understanding of user and business needs.
Skills & Tools
User Research
As an essential step in UX design, both qualitative and quantitative user research drive my design-making decisions. My methods of research include user interviews, surveys, and ethnographic observations.
Empathy
Understanding the experiences of others is a natural inclination for me. I have a passion for helping people, and in order to do that, I have to be able to understand their point of view.
Qualitative Interviews
In order to gain valuable qualitative data, I find semi-structured interviews to be most informative. Having some general questions in mind, yet letting the users expand and take the conversation in their own direction gives great insight to how they think and feel.
UI Design
Interaction design is the bread and butter of creating intuitive and memorable products. I strive for design that is aesthetically pleasing without sacrificing usability.
